Back to the Basics - a ToB Album Radio Pack

Back to the Basics is an electronic exploration of love, identity, connection, and the search for something real in an increasingly disconnected world. Beneath its synthetic textures and electronic pulse, the album is strikingly human, moving from romantic devotion and the necessity of communication to isolation, self-doubt, social division, compassion, and spiritual longing. Songs such as “Going Down (Wake Up)” and “World Will Change” turn that energy outward, challenging hatred, indifference, and complacency, while “Enigma,” “Where Am I to Go,” and “Existence” descend into more introspective territory, searching through fear and uncertainty for purpose, transformation, and ultimately something beyond the physical. The contrast is central to the record: machine-made sound surrounding very human questions about what it means to love, hurt, believe, belong, and change. Through all its shifts in perspective, Back to the Basics keeps returning to a simple idea, that underneath all the noise, technology, conflict, and distraction, what matters hasn't really changed: connect with people, choose love over hate, make a difference where you can, and keep searching for the thing that makes you feel truly alive.
T.oB was conceived in 2016 as a project by songwriter Chris Bartlett aka PugXXL. For 40 years, he continues to write and record his songs at home as time allows and now uses AI to create versions of these songs for an alternative listening experience. He continues to hone his craft in Florida, in between answering support calls for a software company and while avoiding thunderstorms and hurricanes as often as possible.
